23-F

Thirty years ago, on February 23rd, there was an attempted coup d’état in Spain. I was then a child but I can remember the fear and confusion at home. After almost 40 years having a dictator, it seemed that our young democracy was going to disappear again and my parents weren’t happy about that. Actually, they were so unhappy that considered sending my sister and me back to France where we both were born. I spent the night scared and visualizing us at the border alone, waiting for family that still lived in France to help us and far from our parents. Fortunately, the coup soon collapsed and there was no need to do such a thing.
